| Today is Winter Solstice, an important solar term and a festival for Chinese people. It is identified geographically that the sun shines straightly at the tropic of capricorn, it is with the shortest daytime and the longest night for the northen hemisphere. From Winter Solstice on, the daytime is longer and longer in the northen hemisphere. China has a long history to celebrate Winter Solstice as a festival. Till now, generally people eat Tangyuan (glue pudding, a round rice ball with sweet stuffing) and Jiaozi (dumplings, different shapes with different salty stuffing, usually with meat stuffing).
